When Gingerbread Houses Go Bad...

Okay now I will admit I LOVE to break out the gingerbread house kit every year. Before me and my friends from college had kids when we got together for our annual Christmas get together we always made gingerbread houses. It was fun and always left for tons of laughter. Once we had kids though it was just a little too much since the were too little!

Anyway that doesn't mean we don't do a house here at home. Almost every year I have bought the same Wilton gingerbread house kit. It is pretty easy and normally looks somewhat cute when you get done. So this year I was reading some message board and someone posted the most adorable Gingerbread Castle kit featuring Disney Princesses!!! Ummm hello...I MUST HAVE THIS I thought so I ordered it. Well the other day P and I decide to put this thing together so we get out all the stuff. I start mixing up the icing. So far so good...go to put the icing in the little bag things and the tips that were to be included were missing. Ugh..annoying but whatever so I just stick it in a baggie and snip the corner. SO we start to put the castle together. Hmmmm .....

Well it is much smaller that I thought it would be but okay. So we get the walls up and are trying to get the part on that will actually make it look like a castle. Ummmm...it is toooooooo short. Grrr Okay well lets just decorate what we have. So lets put on these ADORABLE little princess pieces that make them look like they are looking out the windows. OH WAIT...we can't they are broken into a million little pieces. Okay so lets put the the little corner pieces on the castle...oh wait they come on one big strip that you have to break apart. Okay easy enough...break...SNAP...argh! Okay well...P have at it I don't think this is going to be a very pretty castle

Anyway this is what we ended up with: (you can see the one princess that kind of survived!)

I just want to say that this is NOT our best work!!! hahaaa

But what a great idea!! I'd bet the graham crackers would work with a really thick frosting. Maybe try again next year.
