*Dusts off cobwebs* and dives right in - 18" Doll Bed Makeover

Ahhh finally I am back...I'm going to skip all the mumbo jumbo about why I haven't been blogging and dive back in to all the fun stuff that I've been missing. So lets start with a craft...well really a makeover is what it was.

For Christmas my daughter received an American Girl doll from her grandma and grandpa. She got Julie which is just an adorable doll with the greatest hair! Long, blonde fun to play with but little did we know that this doll would make us turn so crafty. I have lots of outfits to show you that my mom made. They are FABULOUS!!!! and I've been sewing a little hear and there and just did this little makeover.

So, I was in Goodwill one day and saw this doll bed being rolled out on a cart:

I went over to take a look at it and it was only $5.99 and seemed very sturdy. Just what I was looking for!!! The bottom indicated it was from Ikea so that was cool. So I bought it and brought it home where it sat for about three weeks haha

I really wanted to paint it a cute pink or green or something but decided I would just give it a nice new coat of white paint so if I want to change the bedding it would be easier. So my sweet hubby gave it a quick new coat of paint ( I really dislike painting most things...I'm too impatient and try to put it on thick so I only have to do it once...just so you know that never works haha)

Then I wanted to give the bed a "mattress" but JoAnn fabrics was out of the 2" foam so we got a seat cushion and cut and glued it to fit.

So then I made a fitted sheet for the mattress using this AWESOME tutorial. Way easier than I thought it was going to be :)
Then I used the pillow and blanket that my mom had made for Julie until I decide what kind of bedding to make. Mom also made the nightgown which matches everything just perfect!!!
So the bed makeover probably ended up only costing us about $15 or so with the paint and foam and stuff so not too shabby (especially if you know how much doll beds cost!!)
