Welcome to the hottest place on Earth...aka Animal Kingdom

As some of you may remember hubby and I went to Disney for our honeymoon. We couldn't remember a whole lot about the Animal Kingdom because all we remembered was that it was hot and crowded. Well this time didn't let us down! Well the crowds weren't too bad but oh my gosh it was hot. Seriously if Animal Kingdom is having late hours while you are there go in the evening when the sun starts to go down. We did not do this though...we went bright and early and stayed until we were too hot!

Okay so off to Animal Kingdom we went...it is basically like a small zoo with some rides thrown in. We looked at lots of animals and went on the Safari (which is pretty cool!) and sometimes the animals get pretty close to the ride but this time we didn't have any up too close.

After the safari we got some lunch at the Flame Tree Barbecue. This was really good for a counter service meal I thought. I had the bbq chicken which came with a HUGE corn muffin and some slaw (which I don't like) and a cookie and drink. Hubby had a BBQ sandwich that looked good and if I remember right P had a hot dog. Really the kiddy menus are somewhat lacking at Disney but we always just shared with her if we had something she wanted but most of the time she was perfectly happy with a hot dog, chicken nuggets or mac n cheese! We sat and ate in this little shelter and there were these birds all around trying to get all of your crumbs. P found that to be quite fun and we could hardly get her to stop throwing food on the ground!

After this we headed to Dinoland where they have some rides and games. As we were walking by one of the workers wanted to know if P wanted to play a game for free so we stopped so she could whack a dino :)

She didn't win but she had fun and best of all I didn't have to spend 2 bucks to let her try!

After this I think we got some ice cream. (because like I said it is HOT!) so we head some mickey head chocolate bars and daddy had a chocolate covered banana.

After this we headed over to the Kali Rapids and went on it. P loved it but you will get wet...if you've ever been on White Water Canyon at Kings Island you know what I mean. It is just like that. The wet cold water felt good for a few minutes but then we just felt like soggy drowned rats . I thought we would dry off quickly but none of us did. I guess because it was so humid or something. Anyway we went on a few more things and then decided to call it a day. (at AK anyway!) So we went back to our resort and changed clothes and rested for a few minutes and then decided to head back to the Magic Kingdom.

I forgot to mention that the night before when we were at Downtown Disney we checked out the place we were supposed to be eating at today. Captain Jacks or something like that. Anyway it didn't excite us at all so we decided we would skip it. I tried to get reservations somewhere else but EVERYTHING was booked ...I mean everything but luckily during this free dining promotion they were offering where you could turn in one table service meal for one counter service + 2 snacks so we did that. Not the best use of our "free" Disney dining but it was fine. We aren't too picky about where we eat although after having so much fun at our two character meals I really wanted to add another but they were booked booked booked so we made do!

So anyway so we went back to the resort and changed and headed to the Magic Kingdom. P finally decided that she wanted to wear her Snow White dress that we brought. I wanted her to wear it to the Princess breakfast but she didn't want to but tonight she did so I was like what the heck go for it. So she put it on and looked too darn cute. She got lots of extra special attention wearing her dress. The workers would ask her were the Dwarfs were and call her Princess. It was fun.

So we do a few more rides, meet a few more characters like Buzz...you can't tell in this picture but she did NOT want to meet Buzz. She wanted to until it was our turn but then she wanted nothing of it!

After this we ate at Pecos Bills. It was okay. Burgers, fries and stuff like that. It was SUPER busy and packed inside and reminded me of a cafeteria.

That evening we watched the Electric Light Parade which is pretty cool. My pictures didn't come out very good though. Probably because I have no clue how to use all the settings. I tried the night setting, and the action setting and the auto but none of them were very good. Oh well you get the point.

After the parade we decided that we wanted to go back to Downtown Disney so we decided that we would take the bus to Port Orleans French Quarter (we were staying at Riverside) but the FQ bus lines were always shorter. So we got off there and we were going to take the boat back to downtown disney. Well that would have worked except the boat was closed until after the firework show so we just walked back to our hotel. It was a nice walk along the river and didn't take too long. When we got back though we were tired so went to the room to rest and decide what to do. Well we decided to take the boat again when it opened so we did except now it was late again! So we get to Downtown Disney and go in Goofy's Candy Co. which I had heard about. When you go in you get a slip a paper that has different choices (rice krispie, marshmallows, pretzel rods, etc) and then a list of toppings (sprinkles, chocolate chips, nuts, etc.) and then the man dips them and boxes them up and you can have them for a snack!!! mmmmm P got a rice krispie treat covered in sprinkles, chocolate chips and m and m's....this thing was heavy they do not skimp!!! and you can use a snack credit on one...cool!!! Wish I would have taken a picture but I forgot :( By the time we did this it was already time to go back if we wanted to use the boat so we left...with the promise that we would come back the next night (our last night) and finish looking in all the stores.

P fell asleep on the way back. Daddy had to carry her the whole way. I stopped back in the lobby to try one last time to get some new lunch reservations but notta...

Sleeptight Snow White...tomorrow we gotta get up EARLY!!!! Who in the heck makes breakfast reservations for 7:30 in the morning while on vacation???? hahaa
