You know that sound a seal makes? Well that is what is coming out of my sweet little girl. Ugh it all started Thursday...the first day of our fall break. Me and a friend decided to take the kids to Chuck E Cheese...well I was a bit leery because like the rest of the world I am a bit concerned about the H1N1 virus. I decided to go anyway because I wanted her to have a fun time on Fall Break! I went armed...had my anti-bacterial gel in the car. We washed hands before we went, before ate as soon as we got in the car....but
Apparently that was not enough! Well I guess I shouldn't blame Chuck because I guess she could have gotten something the day before at school or after when we went to Menards or Hobby Lobby or Old Navy but still!!!! Anyway on Thursday she seemed fine enough.
Friday morning 7 am she comes running in saying she is dying of thirst so I get her some water and feel her...ugh she is burning up. Take temp...103...ahhh great. Well at least we are on break so we aren't missing school!!! All day Friday temp from about 101 all the way up to 104.5 (that is pretty much my breaking point!) but fudge pops, ice water, cool wash cloths bring it down.
Now I know there are kinds of parenting techniques out there...I tend to wait things out to see if they will fix themselves. I mean do I take my kid who feels like crap and make her get out of her cozy bed to take her to a doctor that will then tell me to make sure she drinks lots of water, sleeps and to take some Tylenol? But of course I am thinking about this H1N1 thing which I've heard so many reports on it is crazy.
Well Saturday morning P is still sporting a fever but it is in the 100-101 range she seems to be getting better and so I decide we will just wait this thing out. Now she is eating(not as much as usual but she is eating), she is drinking lots of water and going to the bathroom and stuff. Sunday she gets up...no fever feeling pretty good ...playing around the house. Ahh finally I can sigh a bit of relief...but wait....
Beep Beep Beep....P's alarm goes off and I go in her room to get her up for school. Decided to check on my barking seal's temperature...well crap...we are back to around 101. Ahhhh....and now she is sneezing, coughing, watery eyes. Blah I hate cold/flu season...
but wait...today P was supposed to her have her yearly checkup ...you know the one...the one you go into when you are feeling good and they see how much you've grown and such! hahaa so I call and tell them but yeah they say they can still do the checkup and see what she might have.
Now lets cross our fingers that she makes a quick recovery because we have a field trip tomorrow and school pictures on Wednesday!
So how many days in a year do you call your kids in sick on average??? Today will be our 2nd time so far and hopefully we have to have any more!!!
